From EA's officia NCAA Football 09 site:
05.16.08 Custom Stadium Sounds Blog In an effort to bring more user generated content to NCAA Football 09 on the next generation consoles we've included a Custom Stadium Sounds feature. This system allows you take the audio files you have ripped to your XBox 360 or PlayStation 3 and play them when various events occur during the game. The audio file will only play if you are the home team in their stadium and there are just over 20 scenarios for you to choose from including: kickoff, tackle for loss/QB sack, turnover, touchdown, start of the 4th quarter, defense on 3rd down, penalty on the visiting team, and more. There is a limit of 50 events that can be created at any given time, however, there is an ALL option should you want to keep the same audio throughout the league. Specific team events have priority over the ALL setting; so if you have two touchdown events with one set to ALL and the other set to Miami, the Miami touchdown audio will be heard. Differences between platforms The only difference in this feature between the game machines is that on PlayStation 3 we can pull the actual song file and on XBox 360 we use playlists. Creating playlists is a simple process and can be done from the XBox Dashboard under Media - Music. Since the playlist will start from 0:00, we recommend using only one playlist per audio file (unless you plan on playing a bunch of really small clips sequentially). Design Decisions Why is it called "Custom Stadium Sounds" instead of "Custom Music?" During one of our team meetings the Creative Lead demoed the feature using a bunch of one-liners from popular Hollywood comedies. Needless to say, it was a huge hit with the team and the Custom Music system gained an entirely new identity. We renamed it Custom Stadium Sounds hoping our users would enter this mode with a creative mind. (Read full blog HERE )

"Each week EA SPORTS will release new feature information in anticipation of the launch of NCAA Football 09. This week we take a sneak peek at the new stadium environments and effects that will be showcased in this year's game. Jason Renfroe, art director at EA SPORTS Tiburon, gives us some perspective to some of the new developments behind the fields and environments.
In addition, see shots of NCAA Football 08's fields and stadiums when compared with with the improved fields and stadiums in NCAA Football 09. NCAA Football 08 screens are on top, while the NCAA 09 screens are the bottom image. Click each thumbnail to view full sized images. More NCAA Football 09 stadium images and downloads can also be found in our NCAA Football09 media section. Click here to see more NCAA Media
  On Field Textures
"One thing we're really proud of this year is our field textures. The level of detail has improved quite a bit. You'll actually be able to see the difference between grass and synthetic turf, which is something that's totally new. We also have field degradation, so the field will see realistic wear and tear during the course of a game."
  On Stadium Lighting
"In years past our stadium lighting has been really dark for the dusk games. This year we have separate lighting controls for the environment and the player, so when the player goes into a shadow, you'll still see the same level of detail you'd see in the full sun."
On The Fans
"Home stadiums have never felt more alive. In the past our crowd colors used to be more mixed with neutral colors, but this year we're showing off the home crowd's colors in a big way. Inside the stadiums it's very clear which fans are supporting which team. There are pockets in the stadiums with sections full of visiting team fans."
  On Other Improvements
"There are a lot of other detail related things we've done to make the stadiums feel more authentic. There is fog that adds more depth to the fields in the larger stadiums, mow lines during snow games, and more dramatic skies that help to improve the environments.""

EA Sports has released a couple of new screenshots of the new player models in NCAA 09. (click images for full size) NCAA Football 09 Art Director Jason Renfroe shares some details on what his team has done to improve the in game visuals and some of what you'll see in future screens of NCAA Football 09.
On player models:
"We've done a lot of work this year to improve the player models. They have a much more dynamic body shape. A key example here is what we've done with our linemen. In years past all of the linemen were big, fat guys. This year we have added lineman body types that are much more athletic. This really helps make the players look more authentic. We also added extra padding to accentuate the players' form and see the pads and their movement."
On improved lighting: "In the past we had one lighting model. This year we have two. One model is for environments and one is for players. This does a lot to help the way players look better when they are in the shadows. We also added a subtle rim light around the players so they pop more on screen. To improve the look of the stadiums, we've saturated our crowds and really brought in a lot of color to better bring out the college atmosphere. Our skies and field art are new as well."
