EA Sports announced Fight Night Round 4 on their site today.  Here's the press release....

"REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - May 7, 2008 - Electronic Arts Inc. (Nasdaq: ERTS) announced today that EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 4 is in development at EA Canada in Vancouver under the EA SPORTS brand. EA SPORTS Fight Night is back with the most realistic "in the ring" experience to date, featuring some of the greatest boxers in history fighting in their prime.

"The EA SPORTS Fight Night franchise has always been synonymous with quality and innovation that raised the bar for the sports videogame genre", said Kevin Wilkinson, Executive Producer, EA SPORTS. "EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 3 was a platform defining game as the industry transitioned to next generation consoles. EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 4 will change how boxing games are played and measured in the future."

Featuring a re-written gameplay engine, EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 4 will add a variety of fighting styles and boxer differentiation to authentically emulate the greatest fighters of all time. Pressure your opponent with the brawling inside style of young Mike Tyson, bobbing and weaving to set up powerful hooks and uppercuts. Capitalize on Muhammad Ali's reach, hand speed and fleetness of foot to bewilder your opponent with lightning fast jabs and straights from the outside. For the first time in history, EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 4 gives you the opportunity to pit these legendary heavyweights against one another and name a true champ.

No fight will be the same with an all-new physics-based animation system that recreates the full spectrum of true-to-life punch impacts, giving boxers a devastating arsenal of punches, blocks and ring movement. The new physics system allows for missed punches, glancing punches, knockout blows and for the first time ever, rough and tumble inside fighting. Fatigue, adrenaline, footwork and timing all come into play as you hammer away at your opponents.

EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 4 will be available for the Xbox 360 system and the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system and ships to retailers in 2009. The game has not yet been rated by the ESRB or PEGI.

EA SPORTS is the leading interactive sports software brand in the world, with top-selling titles and franchises including Madden NFL Football, FIFA Soccer, NHL hockey, NBA LIVE basketball, NCAA Football, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR and NASCAR racing.

EA currently has the beta version of their new sub website, eafootballworld.com up and running and football video game fans worldwide are going to enjoy this one.

At present the site is solely linked to the new UEFA Euro 2008 game, giving gamers the ability to really get involved with one another by posting and comparing their own replays from the game, talking trash, and seeing where their nation lies in the leaderboards.

Creating a profile is great fun too, if you are already registered with EA sports, just log in as normal to access the features available. These include:

  • The chance to display your allegiance with your favourite club team/s, national team and player.
  • The chance to in effect “create a player” to be your avatar at the side of your profile, selecting face and features to recreate yourself or perhaps your favourite player.
  • Using credits earned whilst playing EA games to customize the look of your avatar persona….. By completing certain parts of Fifa 08 and Euro 08, credits are linked to your EA account and can then be used on eafootballworld to purchase clothes and equipment for your avatar persona.
  • Activate widgets on your page to show your stats, groups, blogs and videos to other members.

Read full preview HERE at IGN:

"..There's no question that the career mode and its trimmings look very promising. We've never seen a boxing game try for this kind of presentation before with name athletes and Don King himself providing a look at the career of a once-great fighter. Where boxing games are cast out or crowned champions, though, is in the ring. There are 80 boxers total in the game, 40 of which are licensed with 30 of those being currently active in the sport. Your main rival is a fictional character, but that's only to allow for some custom story arcs to build throughout the course of the game.

As we said, the pure boxing action is what really makes or breaks a boxing title and is one of the main reasons why Fight Night Round 3 is still an awesomely fun and addictive game. The presentation values made you feel like you were watching a real fight with real combatants. Prizefighter isn't quite up to the level of Fight Night just yet, but there's still time for things to smooth out a bit. Our main problem was with the fluidity of the action. Some punches went through character models and none seemed to have the power or pack the "wallop" that we saw in Fight Night..."

Price Offers 64% Premium Over Closing Price on Feb. 15

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., March 13, 2008 – Electronic Arts Inc. (“EA”) (NASDAQ: ERTS) today announced that a wholly owned subsidiary of EA commenced a tender offer for all of the currently outstanding shares of common stock of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (“Take-Two”) (NASDAQ: TTWO) for $26.00 per share in cash.

The offer is valued at approximately $2 billion and represents a 64% premium over Take-Two’s closing stock price on February 15, the last trading day before EA sent its revised proposal to Take-Two.

EA Chief Executive Officer John Riccitiello: “This is a great opportunity for Take-Two shareholders.  We believe Take-Two investors will see our tender offer as the best way to maximize the value of their investment in Take-Two. This tender offer provides a clear process to complete the proposed transaction. For EA shareholders, the combination would add additional intellectual properties to our already strong portfolio and welcome Take-Two’s talented creative teams to the great development organization we’ve built at EA.”
The tender offer is scheduled to expire at 12:00 midnight, New York City time, on Friday, April 11, 2008, unless the tender offer is extended.

The tender offer is not conditioned upon financing. The tender offer is conditioned upon, among other things,

  1. EA being able to acquire a majority of the outstanding shares (fully-diluted) of Take-Two in the tender offer;

  2. the anti-takeover provisions of Section 203 of the Delaware General Corporation Law not being applied to the tender offer or any subsequent merger with EA;

  3. the expiration or termination of any applicable Hart-Scott-Rodino waiting period and;

  4. Take-Two entering into a merger agreement on terms satisfactory to EA in its reasonable judgment.

Morgan Stanley & Co. Incorporated is acting as the Dealer Manager for the tender offer and Georgeson Inc. is acting as Information Agent for the tender offer.

This press release is neither an offer to purchase nor a solicitation of an offer to sell securities of Take-Two. The description of the tender offer contained in this press release is not intended to be a full or detailed description of the terms or conditions of the tender offer. Take-Two shareholders are urged to read the disclosure documents that will be filed later today with the Securities and Exchange Commission (the “SEC”), including the tender offer statement, regarding the tender offer because they contain important information.
