So it appears that Gamestop/EB is turning its back on PC gamers even further. After years of giving them my business as a big time PC game buyer, that has basically ended.

My local Gamestop (formerly an EB) received ONE copy of SW: Empire at War-Forces of Corruption... TOTAL. Luckily I was the person who picked it up..

They also only got ONE store copy of the new first person Heroes of Might And Magic: Dark Messiah which they had sold out of. So I asked one of the managers there that I know "Hey, what gives?"

He said "This is what happens when GameStop's higher-ups get in charge of what once was a good game store franchise." He also said that unless you reserve the PC game with cash down before the game comes out, they will usually only get one store copy, if that..unless its something major by EA. (They did have two copies of EA's new "Battlefield 2142".)

He said that for some reason the GameStop people have a bug up their ass about PC games, and want to focus on console only sales in the storefronts. He said he guesses the message GameStop wants to send is that PC people can buy online, or elsewhere, despite the #1 game in terms of sales in the entire world being a PC game currently. (World of Warcraft)

Hmmm...

So, I went across the lot to CompUSA, and picked up what I wanted. CompUSA had tons of everything. So I guess if your are a PC gamer... you have to pick Best Buy or Comp USA to get your games nowadays. I'm surprised GameStop is going this direction. I remember when I was a manager at EB, we were damn thankful because of the "less cyclical" nature of PC game sales (new games release year-round, instead of 90% of them releasing between October and Christmas for Holiday sales) If we relied solely on console game sales the rest of the year, you'd have the token March Baseball Sim, and the July NCAA game.. and very little else "out of the Christmas season". Oh well.

Does Gamestop somehow feel that WoW: Burning Crusade won't sell like no tomorrow in January?

...especially since the limited edition version pre-sales have already been reserved within hours?

Ah..beancounters...
