EA has sent pastapadre.com an exclusive screenshot from NBA Live 08 featuring the new Seattle Supersonic Kevin Durant. Click the HERE to view the screenshot.

"As a fan of the Sonics I can't wait to use Durant in the game. Losing Ray Allen is a killer though, as I rely on his outside shot to really stretch the defense. Wally Szczerbiak will have to pick up some of that for me now. The additions of Durant and Jeff Green though will make for a fun team to play with (especially if they hang on to Rashard Lewis) but since they're rookies losing an All-Star like Allen will still sting when it comes to initial ratings." - PastaPadre

NBA Live 08 Community Q&A

Andrew Begley of NBA-Live.com did a Q&A during the Community Event this week for NBA LIVE 08 in NYC.  He basically gives a little rundown of the time he spent while at the NBA Live 08 Community Day event this week.  You can check out the Q&A in full HERE and stay tuned for upcoming videos, screens, and more impressions from the Community event.

"As most of you are aware, we are currently holding our NBA LIVE Community Event in NYC for the 2007 NBA Draft.  With me is Andrew Begley from NBA LIVE Series Center who was kind enough to give all of us an update on what’s going on.

Q: How long did it take for you to fly in?
A: About 18 hours total from Sydney Australia to NY, NY.

Q: What have you done so far in the week?
A: First night, met up with all the community guys, really good group.  Had dinner at Rub’s BBQ and caught a quick glimpse of Gilbert Arenas as well as Kevin Durant which was pretty cool.  Second day was all about the game which was great because with the 5 of us, we could get some real in-depth time with the game and the producers.

Q: So you got to speak with producers?
A: That’s right. It was quite an awesome experience to see the game before it is released and the opportunity to provide feedback, which is great.

Q: Did you really feel like your feedback meant anything to them?
A: ABSOLUTELY! Just to see the way Brent Nielsen was taking notes really demonstrated that EA is really taking the initiative with these community days, and that they really care about our feedback.

Q: So you saw the game?
A: Yes.

Q: First impressions?
A: My first impressions came at Rub’s, as I was walking in the door, I saw a Lakers game on the screen and for a moment, I thought it was a replay of a real game!  As I got closer, I realized it was NBA LIVE 08, but was still very impressed by what I saw.  I was impressed with it more when I got my hands on the game!

Q: Are you just saying that because you’re a known PC guy?
A: Well, I probably am a bit more impressed by next gen after playing current gen for so long, but I truly think it is impressive

PastaPadre's NBA Live 08 Community Day Impressions

Thursday, 28 June 2007

Pastapadre is out at the NBA Live 08 Community Day in New York right now and has posted some of his impressions thus far.

"It is only June 27th, yet a group from the community has already spent a significant amount of time with NBA Live 08. The importance of that can't be underestimated. Because the game doesn't come out until October 2nd, we were able to discuss in detail what we liked, what we disliked, and what we would like to see changed for the upcoming release.

Not next year's version, but this will actually affect the one that will be coming out in four months. The input that was given is being taken into consideration and, hopefully, will have been addressed for release. It is something that we'll be able to look back on and see exactly how much impact this community event had on the final product.

A few things of importance to note. The early point in the development cycle means we're obviously seeing a work in progress. Thus, there were many visual bugs, gameplay oddities, etc. that there is really no point in me listing out here. We talked with the producers for the game about those and they saw them along with us so if they weren't aware of them beforehand, they are now. Also there are embargos on some features for the game, so until certain dates we are not able to reveal them."
