As I mentioned in the last update, I was able to take the Motor City Kitties out to battle in their first preseason game under the new coaching regime. My approval rating was 55 going into the game and the fans had high expectations against the Colts. We went into battle with our starting lineup on the field and had them play about a half as it took me a minute to figure out how to do mass subs earlier.
It was quite apparent very early that big FA signing, Michael Turner, was going to contribute to the team. He ripped off a couple of chunks of yardage to start the game was very prominent in the Lion's offense. In one half of football Turner carried the ball 9 times for 49 yards and 1 TD. He impressed the new coaching staff in just his first game. The same, however, could not be said for starting QB John Kitna.

After basically ignoring Head Coach since I got it with the Madden Collector's Edition back when Madden was released, I decided to dive into NFL Head Coach 09 and take over my hometown teams horrendous franchise, the Detroit Lions. Even though it's probably the toughest team in the game to turn around, it's the perfect team to take over as there will be a new regime in place by next season with the real life squad. The Lions only wish they could go back to the days of Wayne Fontes and his winning ways. So, why not see if I can bring that Wayne Fontes magic back to Detroit?
I created myself and decided to take over the Lions before the 2008 draft since I hated their draft back in April. Now, I do not consider myself a front office guru by any means and am still trying to figure things out. What I do know is that after the initial cuts, the cupboard was really bare with the Lions organization, so I hit the pre-draft Free Agent wire. Here's who I signed before the draft...

In our first official edition of the ConsoleSports.net JACKED UP Video of the Week, we have Fazer using Marcus Washington and the Redskins stopped one Adrian Peterson dead in his tracks on a pass to the flats!
And we also have an "Honorable Mention" with Big Mean Bunny taking his Raiders and also showing the Bronco's Cecil Sapp that life is dangerous out there in the flats!
Nice submissions, gentlemen! Keep them coming!!

Some things to address about the league.
Glad to see so many people taking part. Tonight, I will check to see the situation with RTHokies and if he ever signed on. If not, Piledriven gets the spot.
Zilla has signed in, and I think Metalpuck did too.
Also, I'm contemplating outlawing the QB sneak play. (As are many leagues.) They work way too well, often for 3-5 yards guaranteed. EA is aware of the problem and will probably patch.
Thoughts on that idea? Let me know.
Now, Crimsonvoodoo informed me of some issues regarding various user to user connections. EA has no response, but about 90% of the time, this is a problem with games being flunky with people's routers. I've seen it in EA games, I've seen it with 2K games. Some users routers just don't like connecting with others during matchmaking in certain games.
The only solution I can propose is to try to bypass your router and plug directly into your cable or ISDN modem...cutting the router out of the equation. That's a sucky answer, I know, but I've had to do it with other games, and it works quite a bit. If EA gets back to me with an answer, I'll be sure to relay it. I doubt they will though. Virtually all game companies will tell you they aren't responsible for something they feel is related to the router.
That's all for today. Get your games in, and I hope you all fare better than I did in my game against Voodoo.

Here at ConsoleSports.net, we are kicking off a brand new feature here called the "JACKED UP Video of the Week" where users submit their hard hitting Madden replays in the official nomination thread in our forums and then we go through and select one to get the JACKED UP honors for the week. To kick things off, here is one from CS.net Co-Founder Quietcool72. Thomas Jones pays for trying to get fancy in the backfield and ends up getting JACKED UP by Steelers safey Ryan Clark!
Also, don't forget to check out this tutorial on how to embed your EASW replays in the ConsoleSports.net forums
