Here's some highlights and quick notes of what Craig and I learned from the 2K8 conference call:

Regarding the XBOX 360/PS3 version:

Minor league team play is available in franchise. (Think MVP)
There's 18 authentic Minor League stadiums.
There's  3 generic Minor League stadiums.

They wanted to make pitching a little more organic for the pitching.

More hit variety is now in place

Ben Brinkman and Co. are really pumped about the trading card system. You can earn player cards and put together a team based on your card and take them online.

The new pitching system allgedly has a 5 to 10 minute learning curve.

way more motion capture, more animations. more fielding animations

more responsive controls

between 30 and 60 fps

Better baserunner AI

New double play system. "totally overhauled" and is virtually brand new.

Pitching isn't easy if you don't know what you're doing. Don't worry, there's a pitching tutorial.

rewrote hitting, pitching, fielding.

They are well aware of all the taters last year.

Less HR's on higher difficulty. As far as hitting taters on Legend, they say "good luck"

***FIELDING DIVES ARE NOW INSTANTANEOUS*** no more "dive icon" telling you when to do it, or long animation chain to do it.

2 new gameplay cameras with better views and better depth perception- particularly for fielding.

new wall climb mechanic.

Controls are instantaneous.

"dive" icons have been removed

Pitching feels natural

They did do some work to make the sim engine more realistic.

Added two new gameplay cameras. Better views and better depth perception

New batting camera split between 2K6 and 2K7. Better sense of speed and pitch trajectory.

Option to use to turn off advanced pitching and hitting features.

Different throw tractories and redone throwing AI

bounce throws are in.

Pitching fatigue bug has been fixed.

2K Share will not be used for this title

up to 4 teams can be human controlled in offline franchise mode.

Yes, minor league games are playable. Just like in MVP.

2K is trying to include as many minor league players as they can. They don't have the license for that. But they are editable.

Minor league teams are available online.
